Welcome to Wein!!

Alright, so I'm a little behind in my blogging. Soooorry about that! What can I say? I'm just having too much fun! Alright, so Sunday (last sunday... the 15th I think?) We took the buses back from Mariazell to Vienna. Woah... I'm actually in Vienna! (I have to keep reminding myself...)
It was absolute chaos getting all of our luggage together and trying to get taxis to take us all to our new apartments. Taxi drivers would pull up, take one look at our luggage, and just pull away!
Kent is one of the faculty members on staff here that works with the students. Imagine a very smiley and optimistic Mr. Clean... and that's Kent! He comes up with these random phrases (known as Kent-isms) that are meant to be inspirational, but usually just make us all laugh. His most famous one is "squeeze the juice!!" (Squeeze the cultural juice, squeeze the academic juice, squeeze the adventure juice... you get the idea). However another idea from him is this idea of "personal Teflon". You gotta just let stuff just kinda slide right off and not get to you.
Anyway, my point is, this was an excersise for my personal Teflon! All we wanted was to see the city and our apartments and just go go go! But... that's not how Wien works, and we are certainly not here to change the system.
Eventually, we got a taxi ride through the city to our new home!! It's a little sketchy from the outside... you know... big city apartment kind of feel. There's even a strip club down the street... oh boy. But inside it is FANTASTIC! We live in a building with almost 20 other IES students, as well as about 30 other locals. I live with 3 other girls, Gwen, Becca, and Jen. They're great! We're all pretty similar people it seems like... so I'm sure we will get along just fine!
Love, Susan
