3 Countries in a day!

After the intensive German class ended, we took our "post-intensive break". We got 9 full days off before our regular classes started. So, we left early saturday morning from Austria (obviously) and drove about 4 hours to Prague in the Czech Rebublic. Prague is a beautiful city!! There is a very large river that runs directly through the city that lends itself to some of the most gorgeous views around. (Of course my camera died as we pulled into Prague...) So we had about 2 hours to explore a tiny little bit of the city, mostly the main square and the Jewish quarter. We stopped and had lunch at this nice little spot not too far from the city center. Here's the catch. I FINALLY am getting the hang of German. I can utter out my necessary sentences and be just fine. But NO. We crossed the border, so brand new language! Talk about culture shift. Trying to order and pay left my head spinning.

So after we left Prague we headed to Dresden, Germany (the third country for the day). That was where we stayed the first night of our trip. We got there and had a fabulous Italian dinner (yeah I do recognize the irony) and we even got to order in German again! Phew! More to come on this city and the rest of this trip...
